Adding a 2nd Monitor to the computer

I mentioned last week on FB that I was rearranging the office because I'd hooked a second monitor to my laptop. Actually, it's a Vizio HDTV that I'm using. This laptop is older and I had to hook it up with a VGA cord. Kind of clunky but I love having the dual screens. I've had documents open on one while doing research on the other. At first moving the mouse from one screen to the other was a little awkward. Still is at times.

I can also hook my Dell Mini up to the Vizio with the HDMI cord, but I can't get the dual screens on it. That must have to do with the Windows 7 Starter. bah humbug.

    I tried that, but I like having them both angled so I can see out the window too. Wanna absorb all the sunshine I can while it's shining :P

    I may go back to that before it's all over.

    Yeah but it's harder to see the screen with all that awful light. I have two 2 18" CRTs on my old system in my office that I don't use anymore except for a print server and it was great to have them when I was doing web work or whatever other combo.

    2 CRTs took up a lot of desk space didn't they? I remember how much room one took up.

    I'm still with one monitor. I plan on changing as little as possible in all areas. :mad:

An irritation with Kindle

I don't have the device itself, but the program is loaded on my computers and iPod Touch. I never paid much attention to the little location thingy because I just plowed through a book. BUT and this is huge, I finally was able to buy a Kindle textbook and I was so excited until I'm to use a rubric on page 129. No problem. I can't figure it out, but it's got to be able to convert to page numbers. I hit Google with my question. And the answer is: ding, ding, ding It can't be done! There isn't a way to convert. What's more, Amazon has told multiple students that their way is superior. APA style even has a citation using Kindle locations. Well, whoopdidoo. That doesn't do a student trying to find a specific location in a book a lick of good. Nook on the other hand (who I have not been supporting as much as Kindle) does have page numbers. over a month

Here I sit wondering why it's been over a month since I've posted. Not really wondering. I know exactly why. School started. Grad school followed. In the last month, I've written well over 20 lessons, developed daily quizzes, written online tests and lessons, trained the staff on how to use a new program hooked into the state evaluation system. I edited a small math book on analogies as well as worked an open house and a back to school night along with working my way through cataloging lessons - some of which were less than successful. I've made some new friends in the way of colleagues and fellow students. I've chosen to work alone and at times with others. I attended my first Circle meeting at Home Moravian and signed up to work two candle teas in December.
