Bonnie Doerr - Author Visit!

Fifth grade had the opportunity to hear  Bonnie Doerr  on Wednesday. A special thanks to Jamie Southern at Bookmarks for helping make Mrs. Doerr's visit a reality! Their Authors in Schools & Community program gets authors into places where they can interact with children up close. Mrs. Doerr has two published books with a third one in the works. In the first book,  Island Sting , Kenzie finds herself in the Florida Keys trying to save endangered Key deer. https://youtu.be/GBhnHfWyHr4 In book 2,  Stake Out,  Kenzie rescues sea turtles. https://youtu.be/VZ7Bj-ls0QA Mrs. Doerr is an engaging speaker and the students had a great time learning about Key deer and sea turtles. Mrs. Doerr introduced them to these endangered species through pictures, interesting anecdotes, and of course, parts of her books! FCPL Bookmark Contest Winners 2015

In September, all Moore students participated in the Forsyth County Public Library Bookmark Contest through their weekly library classes. This year we had three winners. Congratulations to Jonah Shores in Kindergarten,  Breana Samonte in 3rd grade, and  Ellie Pearsall in the 5th grade. Ellie is a second time winner! We represented Moore ES at the Awards Ceremony on November 19th at the Education Building. Thanks to all the students who participated in this year's contest! I know picking winners was a very difficult job! [gallery ids="408,410,409" type="rectangular"]
